Rep. Terrie Wood’s 100 Day Plan to Secure Connecticut

Here is my plan for Connecticut when I become the Secretary of the State. 

CHAMPION FOR CONNECTICUT BUSINESSES

• Evaluate the filing requirements and processes for new and existing businesses to determine where savings for businesses can be achieved.
• Establish a working group composed of representatives of the business community from a section of small, medium, and large companies to understand how the Secretary of the State can better serve them and their needs.
• Remove the fee associated with filing the annual business report. 
• Create and launch a more user-friendly website.
• Designate points of contact within the office who can answer any and all business questions for companies and sole proprietors – eliminate phone trees and automated services.

TRANSPARENT AND SECURE ELECTIONS

Work with National Secretaries of the State to identify the best voter database system for our town clerks and registrars. Meet with both the Registrar of Voters Association of Connecticut and the Connecticut Town Clerks Association to ensure proper compliance and training for secure elections.

INVESTIGATE ALL INSTANCES REPORTED OF FRAUD

Actively oversee canvassing of each town’s voter list to ensure inactive or ineligible voters are removed from the voter rolls. The current systems are outdated, especially the faulty NCOA component. CREATE A MORE RESPONSIVE AND LESS PARTISAN LOCAL ELECTIONS DIVISION

Put together a comprehensive election legislative package that advocates for common sense reforms starting with Voter ID. Create a more responsive and less partisan Local Elections Division that includes an open and transparent bid process for selecting non-Dominion voting machines.

AN ADMINISTRATION RUN LIKE A BUSINESS

• The Secretary of the State’s Office is meant to serve the people and not the government. Terrie Wood’s experience as a legislator and successful business owner make her the ideal executive to serve Connecticut’s businesses and voters.
• Continue the Red, White, and Blue Schools initiative to promote civics education and reinforce the importance of civic engagement.
• Institute a clearing house of all public officials across the state, including Justices of the Peace, Notary Publics, municipal officials, and others that is easily searchable by geography.
• Increase government transparency by overhauling the portal of state regulations to make it easier to search.
• Make contact information for the different divisions of the Secretary of the State’s office easier to find, access, and reach.
